Magical Maths Week

 Hey Guys! Welcome Back!

Today (friday 28th of august) we had "maths week" (more like maths day). It was really fun even though it kinda hurt my brain the last activity. Sorry I don't have any photos or videos at all -_-

Can you figure them out? It took me while on the first one but the second was easy and then the third was in between. Most people in my class thought that it said 7-4 but it actually says 7 and take 4 then add them both up. (just if you were also confused by that), in the third they do go really fast though. I'll tell you the answers in the next post (DON'T wait until then and then comment you answers and DON'T copy others if anyone else has commented)

I hope you have a fun time at home playing the games if you do ;)

So that's it folks, see you next time! :3

Really Rad Rocket

Hey Guys! Welcome Back!

So today we had to write about how our rocket test flights went. We only did one test flight but we got some good results. Also we had to read the first slide about the launching in front on the whole class my group was panicking because we aren't that good and get really nervous when it comes to public speaking. But luckily I just held the rocket and my friend did the speaking and my other friend stood next to us. Although my friend who read it aloud got really sick afterwards and felt like throwing up, I think it was probably nerves and I felt really sorry for her.

Anyways here is the slide for our test (oh and only go to slide four (center of mass) because we haven't done the rest because we don't need to yet until our next flight)

Have you made a rocket before? Are you any good at public speaking? I'm not.
Hope you enjoyed it and learnt something new!
That's it folks, see you next time! :3

*~* Super Samoan Digital Classroom *~*

 Hey Guys! Welcome Back!

For Wednesday before we go to tech we had to make a Digital Classroom. The Digital Classroom had to have all our work (slides) that we have done on Samoa. I hope you like it! :)

Oh and if you click on the bookshelf (the little black book actually says Samoan Alphabet but you'd have to zoom in to see) it will take you to one of my slides. Then if you click on the whiteboard (it says Samoan Greetings because that's what it will take you) it will take you to one of my slides. Finally if you click on the paper (it says Samoan Language Studies) it will take you to one of my slides.

P.S. The bitmoji character had to be coming out from the side because I couldn't find a descent one that was sitting.

Here it is! :>

Oh and I'll be making a video of it as well so if you can't get to the slides or you want me to read it and because our teachers say we have to.

Did you like it? Is there anything I need to fix? Have you made a digital classroom?
Welp that's it folks, see you next time! :3

😎Rad Rocket Animation😎

Hey Guys! Welcome Back!

Today we had to create an animation showing how rockets fly. I hope you like it! Here it is:

I hope you liked it!
Did you know how rockets fly? Did you learn something?
Welp, that's it folks, see you next time! :3

Spontaneous Simulated Finals

 Hey Guys! Welcome Back!

This is the final next ball game between Aus and Nz! What we had to do for this one is... we had an online die. There were some different types of die but I used a simple six sided die (try saying that 10 times fast). The rest is kinda explained on my screenshot... so here it is:

So we had to put the scores into a tally chart. They got 40 shots each (40 times to throw the ball into the hoop). A means Aus, N means Nz, G means Goal(s) and M means Miss(es).

So when I roll the die say I get a 6 that means it's a miss for Aus/Nz... for Nz they can get a goal if it rolls a 1-4, but it's a miss if it's 5-6... for Aus they can get a goal if it's 1-5, but it's a miss if it's 6. The reason this is unfair is because in the last challenge we found out their percentage of a chance of winning and Nz's chance was 66% and Aus's chance was 84%.

Then at the end we didn't get told to do this but I wrote down their shooting percentage... Nz is 50% (which is quite clear to see by their score) and Aus is 87.5%.

If you don't understand don't worry it's fine I didn't understand but then my dad helped explain it to me (I was home sick that's why my dad helped explain).

Did you understand? Was it interesting? You should have a go if you understand what to do.

So that's it folks, See you next time! :3

Nutty Nz vs Absurd Aus

Hey Guys! Welcome Back!

For maths we made 2 dice one was Aus and the other Nz. But before we did that we found (we used our brains and maths algorithms) the percentage of who is most likely to win a game between the two. Nz was 66% and Aus was 84%. Here is my table of the simulation match between the two.

The blue means that team won. As you can see they both won 2 games each. If you add their scores together Nz got 23 and Aus got 8. Even though Australia got a more likely chance of winning Nz still came to the top. I guess Australia were having a bad day.

You can also see that my predictions weren't that accurate especially the 20 shots each game.

Have you made a simulation of a sport game? Have you made a 6 sided die?

So that's it folks, See you next time! :3

Creative Capillary Action

 Hey Guys! Welcome Back!

This week we had another science report and experiment. Our teacher accidentally knocked over our experiment so my friend Jayde and I had to start again. But it's ok because we got a bigger container to fit it in. Here's my report:

Capillary Action

Questions:

How high can the liquid go up a stalk of celery?

Research Summary:

Ganesha, the Indian god, would get left milk at her shrine. But a man once tried to feed

Ganesha and found that the milk had disappeared. The scientists thought it was a celestial

intervention so they went to test their hypothesis and it turned out to be true, and it was capillary

action that made it happen.

The milk would flow through narrow cracks, with no assistance from an external force. So it

turned out that Ganesha was drinking the milk the whole time.

The science behind it is the Capillary action. Water can move up narrow cracks, tubes, straws

etc. You would expect gravity to pull it down but the adhesion, cohesion and surface tension

helps it climb up the side of the straw.

Hypothesis

I think that the celery will fade a bit as the liquid goes up.

Materials:

Water, red food colouring, beaker, sprite bottle and celery.

Procedure:

1. First, we got a beaker and filled it up with water (and added red dye).

2. Then we got a full stem of celery, marked it with a distance of 5cm each and then put it in the

water.

3. (Mr G knocked it over, so we had to start again) So we got a sprite bottle and cut the top off,

then filled it with the water and put the celery in.

4. We then observed and measured how far it went and how many days it took to get to that height.

Observations/Results:

Tests

Height

Speed

Observations

When we went to measure

it we had found that the water

had gone up to the leaves. We

could tell by a red colour that was

on the leaves, that looked kind of like

veins. The height it went up to was 50cm.

We forgot to check on Friday and

then couldn’t on Saturday and

Sunday. So we checked on Monday

which was the fourth day so it

reached the leaves on the fourth day.

Although since we didn’t check on

the other days it could have reached

the leaves earlier.

Discussion:

When we checked the celery stalk had faded a little bit but not that much, and when it got to the

top the leaves had thin lines of red in them like veins. I thought it was quite interesting how the

red water got up to the top in four days.

We couldn’t measure how far the liquid went day by day so we measured how far it went on the

fourth day and it had gone 50cm. I wasn’t that surprised that it went to the top in four days.

Conclusion:

I have learnt that capillary action can actually go pretty fast and high… well faster and higher than I expected. After doing this with celery I wondered what else it could go up and if it could go any higher than 50cm in four days… although we’d need it to be quite high.

Sorry but we don't have any pictures of this experiment :(

Have you done an experiment with a... fruit? vegetable? plant?

So that's it folks, See you next time! :3

Awesome Acids and Beautiful Bases

Hey Guys! Welcome Back!

Last week we wrote a science report on acids and bases. We also did a science experiment with them. Here is my report:

Acids and Bases

Questions:

What are acids and bases? What is the difference? What can acids and bases do?

Research Summary:

When you know an object is acidic it is under 7 on the scale and if it is basic it is over 7.

What is the difference? Well if an object is acidic then it will be able to burn/melt through other

objects. For instance, if it is 1 on the scale then that means it could burn through a table, and if it

was basic then it could not.

An example could be if you were to brush your teeth then after having a drink of juice. It wouldn’t

taste very nice because toothpaste is slightly acidic where as juice is basic. The bad taste

comes from the two neutralizing.

There are two elements that makeup water (H2O) which is Hydrogen and Oxygen. You may have

noticed that water that you drink at school or work may taste different from the water from the tap

at home. Why is this? Well it tastes different because in some water every part of the H2O may

be exactly how it’s supposed to be, 2 hydrogen and 1 oxygen. In times one of the hydrogen may

disconnect and float by itself, but then later joins another H2O and becomes H3O. That is why our

water may taste different from others.

Hypothesis:

When the two chemicals react, some will change to a different colour, while some may just stay

the same or lighten or darken.

Materials:

Beaker, Pipettes, Flask(?), Beaker Stand, Cabbage Juice, Sprite, Ammonia, White Vinegar,

Lemon Juice, Alcohol, Baking Soda.

Procedure:

1. Set aside the indicator solution. We used it as our "stock" solution for our experiments.

2. Secondly, we tested various household solutions with our indicator. We used one beaker for each

solution we want to test because we don’t want to mix chemicals that don’t go well together.

3. Then we placed an equal portion of indicator solution and the test liquid (e.g. Sprite) into a

beaker, we used a pipette to measure.

4. Next, we added drops of a liquid we wanted to test until we saw the solution change colour.

5. We then recorded what we had observed of the pH and a description of each solution we used

with the indicator solution.

Baking Soda: 1 teaspoon

Discussion:

I thought it was really cool and interesting how they changed colour and what colours they

changed too. Some of them I expected to adjust to that colour, but then others I didn’t.

When we did the baking soda, I thought it was fascinating how some of the Cabbage Juice

was soaked in by the baking soda and was turned into a light blue. Then there was the rest of

the Juice on top and was dark blue.

Conclusion:

My hypothesis was very accurate, and I learnt quite a bit. I thought it was interesting how each chemical had a very different texture and colour. I learned that when mixing a liquid with any household liquids can have a very different reaction (and that ammonia is deadly).

~.*+ ): Painful Pollution :( +*.~

Hey Guys! Welcome Back!

We have been making, well drawing, art pieces about global issues. I choose pollution and we had to write a blurb about our art pieces. I haven't got a picture of it yet because I have only sketched it out and haven't started colouring. So you won't be able to see my art but I'll probably be done either this or next week. Here is my blurb about my art piece!

My Blurb(:
My art is about ocean pollution. I choose pollution because I have quite a strong point for it and believe that we can stop it if we all work together.

There are many plastic that goes in the sea, which pollutes our ocean. My art shows they way that it looks on some beaches.
In my art it shows a turtle choking on a straw and wrapped up in a net. It also has many rubbish pieces on the beach and in the sea to show what is really happening. I also put up a few clouds to show air pollution.

I want to spread the word that we are all in this together and we if we all chip in, then we may just be able to stop the pollution.

I hope you enjoyed my blurb! I put quite a bit of effort into it. Tell me if I should change anything up.
Have you written a blurb before, if so what was it about?
That's it folks, See You! :3

Kool Koru Explanation

Hey Guys! Welcome Back!

Last time I posted about my koru art I forgot to do an explanation of what my koru means to me. So here's my explanation.
Explanation:
The two big hearts means my mum and dad and that I love them. The two small hearts means my brother and me and my love for him and me. And that we are the centre of their life (hopefully) and they love us (hopefully). All together it means love and that I love my family and are very grateful for them.

Have you made a koru neckless before? If you have what does yours mean to you?
So that's it folks, Bye! :3

Revolting Racism😨 #Blacklivesmatter

Hey Guys! Welcome Back!

For inquiry went around the class room and there were pictures set up. We had to write what we thought it meant to us. Then we had to pick one of those pictures and write a paragraph about it. I picked the racist one. I did two paragraphs just to explain what's happening and then what I think about it. Here is my work!

What did you think about the picture? Do you support #blacklivesmatter? I do. Do you agree with me?

Painful Pollution

Hey guys! Welcome back! For inquiry we have been learning about global issues (I don't know if we were meant to post this but I'm doing it anyway). I have been looking at pollution. I made a slide and put my notes and linked the videos I watched to get the information. If you see that there are some different numbers of how much pollution goes into the ocean a year well that's because they are different. The first one is for (I think, I don't really know) the UK?, the third one is for America, and the fourth one is for the whole world. I hope you like it! (The numbers are astonishing)

Did you know about the new continent? Are you suprized about the numbers? I'm honestly not suprized. So that's it folks, Bye! :3

Terrific Time Capsle

Hey guys! Welcome back! We have been write a letter to the future 40 years later. So the next generation can read our letters of what happened with Covid-19/Corona Virus. Here's my letter! (I haven't written it on paper yet)

We are also going to make our own koru neckless out of clay, but before we do that, we have to draw a picture with koru's in it. Inspired by Raewyn Harris. Next week I will post what I have drawn. I would show you what I have so far but I handed it in.

That's it folks, Bye! :3

Marvellous Mashup

Hey guys! Welcome back! I am back at school and it's great to see my friends again. Do you miss online learning? Are you back at school and enjoying it?
This week I had to do many things for literacy and not so many for numeracy. (By the way I'm reading Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy) Anyways here's my work!

For literacy the first task I had to write about a legendary place, I did Atlantis. I also had to predict what would happen when Trillian, Zaphod, Ford and Arthur arrive at Magrathea. Magrathea is a legendary planet that makes planets for the rich.

The second task was to write a summary about chapters 11, 12, 13 an 14.
The third task was to write how objects and sound travel through space, and then write how we felt about chapter 18 with the floating whale. Yes, I said a floating whale. This book is very absurd.

For numeracy the task I had to do was work out these problems with python on a site called Kaggle.com. Here are my answers and the questions.

Do you know python? Have you read Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy?
That's it folks, Bye! :3
